Pembroke Stud was established during the early 70's with the purchase of a Hunter mare which was the product of a thoroughbred stallion crossed on a pure Holsteiner mare. Many acolades were won by her and her progeny over the years culmunating in championships at H.O.Y.S and B.S.P.S Championships.

As the new Millenium dawned, we began to see a great influx or warm blood horses coming onto the scene. They were very athletic horses, light of bone, some with small feet and of varying temperaments.

This is when we thought of looking at the Irish Draught as a future cross for our stud. They had lovely temperaments, good bone and crossed with hunter mares bred a good strong animal suitable for any equestrian disipline.

We have now set up a Pure Irish Draught Stud specializing in the old traditional breedlines, in order to preserve the bone and substance they possessed.
